Boot an ISO Image using Grub2 or Install Ubuntu without needing a CD DVD or USB drive Grub2 is capable of directly booting ISO images for many Linux distros if the entries have been properly defined in the Grub2 configuration files. What if you don't have access to a CD/DVD drive/disc or a USB drive and you want to install Ubuntu (or any other Linux)? Or if you want to perform some system maintenance tasks like those related to partitions or filesystems which can only be performed from within a Live CD environment? Grub2 comes in handy at that point as it would not only boot the ISO image from your HDD, but it would also let you perform an installation from the ISO image if you want to. Things You Need An existing install of Ubuntu (or any other Linux) with a working instance of Grub2. The desired ISO image that you want to boot/install. Procedure The ISO image can be placed virtually anywhere on your HDD but for the sake of simplicity, we would place it inside a new directory unde...

Bloodborne PS4 Accessibility is not a Synonym for Easy So it should come as no surprise how this one is gonna shake out, but humor me. As we all know by now, if the game contains "Souls" in it, and its by From Software, chances are I am completely frothing over it. So sure enough, I squealed like a fan girl when rumblings and screen shots of something called "Beast Souls" started surfacing. Trailers and game play videos let me know that indeed a new souls game was on the way, albeit under another name. There were some concerns about the game being more accessible to new players, and a growing fear that it might be made easier. Have they dumbed down what I love so much, to make the game more palatable to the every player? We shall see.... Brace yourself, its a long one. BLOODBORNE :(PS4) Our tale takes place in the Gothic inspired Yharnam, a city once known for its potent medical remedies. A place where its inhabitants value the powers that are contained within the b...

Brain Mapping A new initiative President Obama announced a brain-mapping initiative which will require heavy use of cutting-edge and yet-to-be invented data processing and imaging technologies. The Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) initiative could help scientists unlock the secrets to Alzheimers and Parkinsons disease, strokes and even human cognition. More than $100 million will be invested in the initiative which will include National Institutes of Health, DARPA, National Science Foundation, outside academics and private companies. The director of National Institutes of Health said that this initiative might eventually require the handling of yottabytes of data which is equal to a billion petabytes and collection of data could stretch the limits of modern information science. The director Francis Collins said "There have been some conversations about whether the amount of data, if you are going to collect data from tens of thousands of neuron...

Bodhi is ARMing up for a new Year The mainline Bodhi desktop repositories recently received the gift of stable E17 packages and this same present isnt far off for our ARMHF branch. In the mean time however I have prepared and shared new ARMHF images for the Raspberry PI and Samsung Chromebook. For the Raspberry PI image, in addition to sporting the shiny new E17 packages - it now comes with the much requested WICD network manager by default. This means those of you using your Raspberry PIs with wireless devices will now have a GUI by default to configure/connect with this interface. You can find this new Raspberry PI image on our downloads page. The Chromebook release is a bit more exciting. This image has audio working by default and the track pad functions much smoother - including two finger tap to simulate a right click. To get this latest images you follow the exact same install instructions I outlined here a couple weeks ago. For existing Bodhi-for-Chromebook u...

Block a site on your PC Are you trying to block a website on your PC? You need not setup firewall filters to do this. Here is a simple trick to block the site on your system. Although many of you know this, this is for the unknown.... First of all I need to describe about the "Hosts" file It is a file located in C:WINDOWSsystem32driversetc , and it contains information about the hosts on your system... Here are the steps 1. Go to the location C:WINDOWSsystem32driversetc 2. You will find a file by name "hosts" with no extension. 3. Open that file in "Notepad" 4. Go to the bottom of the page where you could find the following line "127.0.0.1 localhost" 5. Now add another line at the bottom for ex: "127.0.0.1 http://www.xyz.com/ localhost" 6. This line will block the site http://www.xyz.com The trick behind this 127.0.0.1 is the IP address of local system the so called loop back address... Now when you enter a site the browser will first c...

Bobs Burgers If Tina Were A Boy Whats recently been on my mind is a character from the Bobs Burgers franchise. A show which was created to fill the void of the King of the Hill being cancelled which is probably why it was picked up because from what I read the original Bobs Burgers pilot was rejected. You know animated features you can really get into them sometimes and Bobs Burgers has a warm place in my heart. It differs to The Simpons and Family Guy even though based using a similar pattern which goes way back to The Flintstones . Tina Belcher who is the oldest child who is a hopeless romantic with a powerful sex drive was originally going to be a boy called Daniel which was named after Dan Mintz who does the voice for the character. Yes, men play female characters in Bobs Burgers, something that is rarely seen in animated features unless its the other way around. You know women playing boys? I was there watching the pilot and thought...no that character just does not fit and f...

Block P2P Traffic on a Cisco IOS Router using NBAR In the following example, well use NBAR to block P2P traffic on our routers Gigabit interface. Create a class-map to match the protocols to be blocked. Create a policy-map to specify what should be done with the traffic. Apply the policy to the user-facing (incoming) interface. conf t !--- IP CEF should be enabled at first to block P2P traffic. !--- P2P traffic cannot be blocked when IPC CEF is disabled. ip cef ! !--- Configure the class map named p2p to match the P2P protocols !--- to be blocked with this class map p2p. class-map match-any p2p !--- Mention the P2P protocols to be blocked in order to block the !--- P2P traffic flow between the required networks. edonkey, !--- fasttrack, gnutella, kazaa2, skype are some of the P2P !--- protocols used for P2P traffic flow. BoyGenius Beejive have launched a great Twitter app for BlackBerry tweet genius The BoyGenius Report ("BGR") and Beejive have launched a new version of the BGR Twitter application for BlackBerry, Tweet Genius. For the next two weeks its only available for those who paid for the Beta version, which I did. For that reason, I can tell you its the best third party application (best application period?) that Ive used on a BlackBerry. Makes the Twitter experience easily as good, if not better than on a desktop computer. Quite a remarkable achievement. How can it make Twitter even better than on a PC and Mac? The interface is simply easier to read and navigate than anything produced by Twitter, Seesmic, Twirl, Tweetdeck, Hootsuite--any of those. And using it on a mobile means you can grab read Twitter in those spare moments waiting at a bus, on the train, waiting for an appointment instead of wasting time at your desk. My only complaint is that I wish it allowed the marketing of fav...
